We Need Your Feedback on the Weekly Bulletin

We have been publishing the Clatsop County Weekly Bulletin for nearly two years now and we would like to ask you what you think of the Bulletin and how we can make it better.


Our goal is to provide you with the timely information you want and need and in a way you want to receive it.

Reminders

County Fair Poster Contest Opens

Clatsop County Fair Board is sponsoring a poster contest for the 2024 fair theme, Forest to the Farm. The contest is open to all ages and the deadline to submit an image is March 1, 2024.


The winning individual will receive two fair concert tickets, two fair season passes, meals for two at the 4-H Chicken Coop and their biography in the fair guide.


This year’s fair runs from July 30 through August 3.

Local Survey Seeks to Understand Our Community’s Strength

Resilient Clatsop County is asking for your help so they can understand the strengths we have in common in our community.


By resilience, they mean a community or individual’s ability to withstand or recover quickly from difficulties. 


This anonymous resilience survey is open to anyone 18 years of age or older and is available in English and Spanish.



Resilient Clatsop County is a group of local organizations and individuals working together to reduce early childhood adversity and build resilience in children and their families in Clatsop County.

Volunteers Sought for Clatsop County Advisory Council and Committee

4-H Extension Budget Committee


Clatsop County is accepting applications for two vacancies on the 4-H Extension Budget Committee.


Budget committee members review the proposed overall 4-H Extension Service budget, make recommendations and approve the proposed 4-H Extension budget for adoption by the county commissioners.


The vacancies are for three-year terms.

Public Works

Clatsop County Public Works Schedule for Monday, Feb. 5 - Friday, Feb. 9

Crews will be:

 

  • Brush chopping on Lewis & Clark Road
  • Brushing on Olney Cutoff and Youngs River Road
  • Ditching on Lewis & Clark Road, Sports Acres Lane, Northrup Creek Road and in the Knappa area
  • Performing culvert maintenance in the Knappa area


Clerk and Elections

May 2024 Primary Election Candidate Filing Opens

Elections

Open positions for the May 21, 2024, Primary Election include County Commissioner District 2, County Commissioner District 4, Sheriff, and Precinct Committee Persons.

New Recording Requirement

Effective January 1, 2024 HB 2029 amends Oregon Revised Statute 205.232 changing the minimum font size from 8-point to 10-point type for recorded documents. Documents being recorded in the County Clerks’ property records must have text with font sizes no smaller than 10-point. We urge all customers to begin updating their forms and templates early to avoid recording delays or extra charges.

Passports

An appointment is required prior to coming in for new passport processing. Routine service can take 6-8 weeks; Expedite service can take 2-3 weeks. Forms are available at www.travel.state.gov

Please go to our webpage and schedule an appointment for passports, park passes, marriage licenses, dog licenses, and recordings with us.


If you do not have an appointment, you may be asked to wait if we are with someone who has scheduled an appointment.
